ตอนนี้ สหรัฐอเมริกา กำลังประสบภัยพิบัติทางธรรมชาติ คือโดนพายุทอร์นาโด ถล่ม
มีประชาชนชาวอเมริกา ได้รับบาดเจ็บ เสียชีวิต และขาดที่อยู่อาศัย จำนวนมาก ทำให้
ต้องฟื้นฟู ประเทศและเสียงบประมาณ ไปเป็นจำนวนมาก
ในสมัยก่อนนั้น สหรัฐอเมริกา เคยตกเป็นเมืองขึ้นของประเทศอังกฤษ จึงมีวัฒนธรรม
ภาษา วิถีชีวิต การปกครอง และความเป็นอยู่ ที่คล้ายคลึงกันกับประเทศอังกฤษ
กว่าที่อเมริกาจะเป็นอิสระจากประเทศอังกฤษ ก็นานเหมือนกัน
สถานที่สำคัญ หรือสัญลักษณ์ ที่ผู้คนทั่วไป หรือนักท่องเที่ยวทั่วโลก รู้จักอเมริกาได้
เป็นอย่างดี ก็คือ อนุเสาวรีย์เสรีภาพ หรือ The Statue of Liberty นั่นเอง

The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous landmarks in the world.
The story of the statue
The statue of Liberty was built for the 100th anniversary of American independence from Britain.
It was given to the American people by the French as a taken of friendship.
It was designed by French sculptor, Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, and took fifteen years to build.

The huge statue is 93 metres high and stands in New York harbor.
It was made from 32.5 tonnes of copper. It was constructed in sections in Paris.
Then it was put into 210 boxes and taken across the Atlantic by ship.
In New York harbor, the sections were assembled on a huge base.

The seven spikes of the statue’s crown represent the seven oceans and seas of the world.
The statue’s face is based on the strong face of the sculptor’s mother.

Today visitors can go to the top of statue by a glass lift.
They can see the inner structure of the statue above them.
From that point there are 171 steps to a viewing gallery in the crown.
