Verb -คำกริยา
คำกริยาที่จะนำมาใช้ในการเขียนประโยค มี 3 แบบด้วยกันคือ
1. Action Verb คือ คำกริยาที่บอกการกระทำของประธาน เช่น
You walk. walk เป็น Action Verb บอกว่า คุณทำกริยาคือ เดิน
2. Linking Verb คือ คำกริยาที่เชื่อมโยงกลับมาบอกเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับประธาน เช่น
That soup tastes good.
tastes เป็น Linking Verb เชื่อมโยง good ไปยังประธานคือ That soup
กริยาต่อไปนี้เป็น Linking Verb
verb be [am, is, are, was, were, has been, are being, might have been, etc.],become, and seem.
กริยาต่อไปนี้ บางครั้งก็เป็น Linking Verb บางครั้งเป็น Action Verb
appear, feel, grow, look, prove, remain, smell, sound, taste, and turn.
3. Helping Verb คือ กริยาช่วย จะอยู่ ข้างหน้า Action Verb หรือ Linking Verb เพื่อบอกเวลา การคาดหวัง บอก Voice (ถูกกระทำ) เช่น
Jim is going to Florida. is เป็น Helping Verb แสดง tense
She can do everything. can เป็น Helping Verb แสดง ความสามารถ
