เราสามารถทำนามเอกพจน์ให้เป็นนามพหูพจน์ โดยการเติม s / es ท้ายนามเอกพจน์นั้น

 Singular Noun / Plural Noun

             1.  Singular Noun หมายถึง นามที่เป็นเอกพจน์ สามารถนับจำนวนได้ 1 จำนวน นามเอกพจน์ มักจะนำหน้านาม ด้วย a, an , หรือที่เรียกกันว่า article

              การใช้ a / an นำหน้านามนับได้มีรูปเป็นเอกพจน์ มีการใช้ดังนี้

                    1.  นามเอกพจน์นั้นขึ้นต้นด้วยพยัญชนะในภาษาอังกฤษ  ใช้  a นำหน้านามนั้น เช่น

                        a  boy , a cow , a goat , a woman , a table           

                   2.  นามเอกพจน์นั้นขึ้นต้นด้วยสระในภาษาอังกฤษ ( a ,e ,i ,o ,u ) ใช้  an นำหน้านามนั้น เช่น

                       an apple ,  an  egg ,  an  orange , an umbrella

             2.  Plural Noun หมายถึง นามที่เป็นพหูพจน์ สามารถนับจำนวนได้มากกว่า  1 จำนวน นามพหูพจน์มักจะเติมท้ายคำด้วย  s หรือ es เช่น

                            
                       a   pencil         =        2   pencils

                       a   dog             =        3   dogs
  
                     an   umbrella   =        6   umbrellas 
 
                     an   orange      =        5   oranges
